Training for godliness is an essential for our walk of faith and to affect the world eternally.

Paul talks about this passage from 4 Different Arenas/Fields of Play

1. Truth of God’s Word vs. Poor Imitations

2. Eternal Value vs. Temporary Turmoil

3. Strain for Truth vs Choke on Culture

Colossians 1:29

Romans 12:2- “Dont become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God.”

4. Confident Example vs Timid Sellout
v. 11-16

Ephesians 4:15 (Speak truth in love)
Philippians 1:27 (controlled by God’s Word)
John 13:34 (His love to us, and to others)
Hebrews 11:6 (trust in God and be faithful)
Psalm 119:9 (pure mind)

How do we respond to this?

1. Truth- not silly lies or half truths
2. Keep Temporary in Eternal view
3. Watchful of influences and how we influence
4. Confident Example not a timid sellout

This Week:
1. What is something I need to take a look at as it pertains to truth in my life?
2. Am I living today in light of eternity? How do I know?
3. Is there an influence that I need to drop?
4. What is it that God is calling me to? Leadership, Service, etc? How am I gifted?
5. How do I live out the example God is calling me to as I train and grow in godliness?
