We can know who God is because He has revealed Himself to us. That's what Christmas is all about!

This Christmas, see the substance, not the shadow.

Outline:
1) God has revealed Himself to be True Light (v. 9).
2) God has revealed Himself to be the Creator of all (vv. 10-11).
3) God has revealed Himself to be the means by which we are adopted (vv. 12-13).
4) God has revealed Himself to be the Word in flesh (v. 14).

1) God has revealed himself to be true light (v. 9).

Jesus was willingly born into a hostile world.

2) God has revealed himself to be the creator of all (vv. 10-11).

Jesus was willingly humbled and humiliated on our behalf.

3) God has revealed Himself to be the means by which we are adopted (vv. 12-13).

Jesus was willing to pay the price for our adoption.

4) God has revealed himself to be the word in flesh (v. 14)

Jesus was willing to dwell with us so that we might see His glory and receive His grace.
