INTRO: Who is the King?
- He is the King of all Creation!
- He is the King of Righteousness
- He is also the King of Salvation.
- He is the King of Glory.

- ANALYSIS/APPLICATION: The Birth of a King

1. The Birth of this King was Selected by God.

This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about. Vs 18

“Where is He who has been born King of the Jews?” Matthew 2:2

2. The Birth of this King was Perfected by God.

His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. Vs 18

"But thou, Beth-lehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thou-sands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlast-ing."—Micah 5:2

The word became flesh and dwelt among us. John 1:14, Romans 8:3

And Mary said to the angel, "How shall this be, since I have no hus-band?" And the angel said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God. And behold, your kins-woman Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son; and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. For with God nothing will be impossible.” Luke 1:34-38

3. The Birth if this King was Connected by God.

Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quiet-ly.20 But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23 “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Im-manuel”(which means “God with us”). Vs 19-23

4. The Birth of this King was Protected by God!

When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had command-ed him and took Mary home as his wife. 25 But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus. Vs 24-25

When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up,” he said, “take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.”14 So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt, 15 where he stayed until the death of Herod. And so was fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet: “Out of Egypt I called my son. Matthew 2:13-14
