The Gifts of the Cross

The Gifts of the Cross

Each Christmas we remember the gift of Christ's first Advent – coming as a vulnerable baby. But we must also remember that the Incarnation was neither the start nor the end of Jesus' ministry to humanity. It began at Creation, continued at the Cradle, worked powerfully at the Cross (and Resurrection), and culminates in the Crown he will be given for his sacrifice. In each of these four aspects of Jesus' coming, God has given gifts to us. This Advent season, let's celebrate these amazing gifts from the Lord and respond with hearts full of worship to him!

Beyond Sunday

Growing with Jesus isn’t just for Sundays. Make it an everyday, everywhere, with everyone mission by going “beyond Sunday”!

Engage in these resources on your own and with your Grow Group*:

Think it out
• Consider Christ’s costly sacrifice by watching this video: npberean.org/beyond4
• How, specifically, has Christ ransomed your life with His own blood?

Talk it out
• Why do things in this life captivate us more than the prospect of ruling with Christ?
• Do I respond to Jesus by living a life of worship? What might this look like daily?

Live it out
• Write a thank you note to Jesus for being both the Lion and the Lamb in your life.
• Remind yourself of God’s greatness by listening to “Is He Worthy”(npberean.org/beyond5) this week.

* Connecting in community with other believers is crucial for spiritual growth. Explore group options at npberean.org/gg or contact Andrew (andrewwalker@npberean.org, 308-532-7448).

Next Week's Sermon

It's Christmas Eve next Sunday and remember that we'll be gathering at our usual times of 9:15 and 11a (not 8a next week or on 12/31), and then we'll be gathering twice in the afternoon as well at 3p and 4:30p. All gatherings will be the same content and we'll enjoy Christmas carols, cookies, community and our final gift we'll open together from God's Word. How exciting to celebrate the first coming of Jesus as a human - he's with us, like us and for us!
