Last week we started our new series titled 'Joy to the World', and we discussed the difference between happiness and Joy. Pastor Jonathan also reminded us that joy happens when we choose to partner with God. But what do we do when joy seems unattainable? That is what we are talking about this week; finding Joy in the Journey.
Ice breaker: What are some experiences that you have witnessed of people being joy-filled even when things are not joyful?
Pastor Jonathan said that "joy can live in the midst of pain", and he referenced the following 2 scriptures: James 1:2-4 and 1 Peter 1:6-7. How do both of these scriptures illustrate his point?

James 1:2-4

1 Peter 1:6-7

Read Philippians 4:4-9. This passage gives us 3 intentional choices we can make to build joy: pray, think, and live it out. How can you practice making these 3 choices in your daily life?

Philippians 4:4-9

To make this easily applicable to our everyday lives, Pastor Jonathan shared a few questions we can ask ourselves. These 4 questions can help us choose Joy when losing Heart. Think about a situation in your own life that is weighing on you, and run it through this filter by asking yourself the following 4 questions:
1. Where’s the good?
2. What else is true?
3. What’s the next right thing to do?
4. Where’s my hope?
Read Isaiah 9:2-6. Take some time and pray to The Prince of Peace. Ask Him to help you find the Joy in your life and current situations.

Isaiah 9:2-6
