Matthew's version of this prophecy is a paraphrase combining Micah 5:2 and 2 Samuel 5:2.

What do we know about the Magi (Wisemen)?

We don’t know how many there were.

These magi were wise men from "the East," most likely Persia, or modern-day Iran.

The Magi unquestionably believed in God’s Word.

They believed in God’s Word so much so it not only affected the moment they were in, but shaped the way the looked to the future.

The Magi followed a star.

You can only be confronted by truth for so long, you eventually have to take a step into the Light.

There is more than enough evidence for anyone to believe, and there is just enough room for doubt so that we have to believe.

The Magi sought Jesus, and followed the leading of God.

One of the great rewards of faith is that we can celebrate the victory before we finish the fight.

Jesus didn’t come just for you to accept Him, and then live as if nothing happened. He wants to lovingly rule over and lead you in every aspect of your life.
