The Gifts of the Cradle

The Gifts of the Cradle

Each Christmas we remember the gift of Christ's first Advent – coming as a vulnerable baby. But we must also remember that the Incarnation was neither the start nor the end of Jesus' ministry to humanity. It began at Creation, continued at the Cradle, worked powerfully at the Cross (and Resurrection), and culminates in the Crown he will be given for his sacrifice. In each of these four aspects of Jesus' coming, God has given gifts to us. This Advent season, let's celebrate these amazing gifts from the Lord and respond with hearts full of worship to him!

Beyond Sunday

Growing with Jesus isn’t just for Sundays. Make it an everyday, everywhere, with everyone mission by going “beyond Sunday”!

Engage in these resources on your own and with your Grow Group*:

Think it out
• Watch this video: npberean.org/beyond3. How did Jesus change the way God is “with us”?
• Read Matthew 4:1-11. How did the temptations Jesus endured help him relate to us?

Talk it out
• What emotions stir within you as you think about God coming to be with you personally?
• Why do we hesitate to draw near to God, if he truly “gets us”? How does this look in your life?

Live it out
• Listen to “O Come O Come Emmanuel” this week and rejoice that God is with us.
• God is for us! What’s one new way you can draw nearer to God this week?

* Connecting in community with other believers is crucial for spiritual growth. Explore group options at npberean.org/gg or contact Andrew (andrewwalker@npberean.org, 308-532-7448).

Next Week's Sermon

So far this Advent season we've seen how God drew near to humanity at Creation and the Cradle (first coming) of Jesus. Next week we'll explore how God again drew near to us and gave gifts through the Cross (and resurrection) of Christ. We'll explore Revelation 5 and delight as we see how Christ's cross earned a mighty victory and brought wonderful gifts for humanity!
