Series: Finding Christmas
Title: Hope
Matthew 1:18–25
Recognize the grit, grace, and glory of the story of the birth of Jesus.

Hope:
1. Hope is for the Hurting.
2. Hope is for the Hungry.
3. Hope is for the Humble.
1. Hope is for the Hurting.
– Matthew 1:19–20
– Luke 1:29

“But [Mary] was greatly troubled at the saying, and tried to discern what sort of greeting this might be.

On the nature of hope:

o Hope is often developed out of difficulty.

o Hope often comes out of desperation.

o Hope always requires faith.
2. Hope is for the Hungry.

Luke 1:53
“[The Lord] has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.”

Hope is the belief that our help comes from the Lord; hope is a gift from God.
3. Hope is for the Humble.

Colossians 1:27
“…Christ in you, the hope of glory.”

The fullness of the glory of Jesus Christ is only seen through the fullness of the sufferings.

Two examples:

- Mary.

- Joseph.

Hope requires the highest courage and the deepest trust in the Lord.
