Dig Deeper:
1. Have you lived in one city or many cities? How are cities similar to one another? How are they different?
2. Do you prefer the city or the country? Why or why not?
3. Read Revelation 21:9. If you were to imagine a “heavenly city,” what images come to mind?
4. Read Revelation 21:10-11. Why is the city compared to a precious jewel?
5. Read Revelation 21:12-13. If there is no need for protection in heaven, why would a gate and wall exist there? What relevance do the twelve tribes have on the gates?
6. Read Revelation 21:14. Like the twelve tribes, why are the apostles recognized on the foundations?
7. Read Hebrews 11:10. How else is God an architect and builder?
8. Read Revelation 21:15-17. Where else are measurements important in the Bible? Why do you think the measurements are included?
9. Read Revelation 21:18-21. Is it hard to imagine there is a street made of gold in Heaven? Why or why not?
10. Read Revelation 21:22-27. What is missing in this city? Why?
11. Read Revelation 22:1-2. Why is the tree of life now able to be experienced by those in Heaven?
12. Read Revelation 22:3b-5. Is it surprising to you that Heaven will be an active place where we serve God? Why or why not?
13. Does knowing that God has a purpose for you in Heaven change your perspective that He has a
purpose for you now, too? If so, how?
14. What encouragement do you find in Revelation 21:9-22:5? How about warnings or convictions?
15. What eternal truths or principles do I find in these verses?
16. What is the Holy Spirit trying to teach me through these verses? What changes do I need to make in my life to act on what I am learning?
17. What was your most significant takeaway from this week’s sermon, scripture reading, or discussion with your small group?

Live It Out:

Rewrite your “Bucket List”! Heaven will be beyond our imagination. On this side of eternity, people fill up their bucket list thinking that they must have the greatest experiences before they die. What is one thing we
can no longer do on earth in eternity? Today, let’s change our list to ensure that we are making disciples of all nations. This week, it can be as simple as:

1. Spending time with God, asking Him to grow your heart’s desire for the lost
2. Sharing stories of how God is working in your life with people you encounter daily
3. Reading His Word in order to deepen your relationship with Him and allow you to share more about Him with others
Reading Plan:
Monday: Revelation 21:9-11
Tuesday: Revelation 21:12-14, Ephesians 2:20
Wednesday: Revelation 21:15-17
Thursday: Revelation 21:18-21
Friday: Revelation 21:22-27, Isaiah 60:19
Saturday: Revelation 22:1-5
