1. Sometimes God changes our plans. Name a time when what you wanted to do differed from what God wanted from you. What happened? How did you handle the change?
2. Proverbs 16:1-3 was in view this week. Read the passage and then read 2 Samuel 7:1-17. What were David’s expectations? In what way did his expectations reveal reverence and concern for God’s plans?
3. In what way does God’s word to David honor David’s heart of reverence and fear of the Lord?
4. Read 2 Samuel 7:18-29. What can we learn from David’s prayer about how to respond when God’s plans take us in new or different directions?
