Divine healing is the act of God through the person of Jesus and the prayers of the saints where a person is healed physically and/or delivered from emotional, mental, or spiritual affliction. Most often, it is seen as physical healing of sickness, such as cancer, diseases, deformities, etc., but it is not restricted to the physical.

Now many signs and wonders were regularly done among the people by the hands of the apostles. And they were all together in Solomon’s Portico. None of the rest dared join them, but the people held them in high esteem. And more than ever believers were added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women, so that they even carried out the sick into the streets and laid them on cots and mats, that as Peter came by at least his shadow might fall on some of them. The people also gathered from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing the sick and those afflicted with unclean spirits, and they were all healed. Acts 5:12-16

INTRO: Jesus does the HEALING (Seven Purposes for Divine Healing Today)

Honors His Word.
Healing was promised by the Father, then declared by Jesus Christ. He said: If I am not doing the works of my Father, then do not believe me; but if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me and I am in the Father. John 10:37-38

Entry Point to salvation.
Jesus said to her, “‘Let the children be fed first, for it is not right to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.’ But she answered him, ‘Yes, Lord; yet even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs’” Mark 7:27-28

Affirms Gods promises
At Capernaum one evening, “They brought to him many who were oppressed by demons, and he cast out the spirits with a word and healed all who were sick. This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: ‘He took our illnesses and bore our diseases’” Matthew 8:16-17

Loves People!
A leper came to Jesus “imploring him, and kneeling said to him, ‘If you will, you can make me clean’” Moved with pity, he stretched out his hand and touched him and said to him, “I will; be clean.” And immediately the leprosy left him, and he was made clean. Mark 1:40-42

Insult the Devil.
The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil” 1 John 3:8
You yourselves know what happened throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism that John proclaimed: how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. Acts 10:37-38

Nature of the Blood!
Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. Isaiah 54:4-5

Glorifies the Father.
Great crowds came to him, bringing with them the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute, and many others, and they put them at his feet, and he healed them, so that the crowd wondered, when they saw the mute speaking, the crippled healthy, the lame walking, and the blind seeing. And they glorified the God of Israel. Matthew 15:30-31

ANALYSIS/APPLICATION: The Case for Divine HEALING

1. Divine Healing is God's Response to Faith.

Paul went in to him….. Vs 8

Now when Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, pleading with Him, 6 saying, "Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, dreadfully tormented." 7 And Jesus said to him, "I will come and heal him." 8 The centurion answered and said, "Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed. 9 For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this one, 'Go,' and he goes; and to another, 'Come,' and he comes; and to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it." 10 When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, "Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel! Matthew 8:5-10

2. Divine Healing is God's Response to Prayer.

Paul went in to him and prayed,……. Vs 8

Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. James 5:13-15.

3. Divine Healing is God's Response to Touch.

Paul went in to him and prayed, and he laid his hands on him and healed him. 9 So when this was done, the rest of those on the island who had diseases also came and were healed. Vs 8-10.

Why God Doesn’t Heal:

Unforgiveness or Sin:
If I regard iniquity in my heart, The Lord will not hear. Psalm 66:18-19.

Unbelief:
But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house." 5 Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. 6 And He marveled because of their unbelief. Then He went about the villages in a circuit, teaching. Mark 6:4-6
For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. Mark 11:23-24.

Uncover much More of Him:
I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.2 My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; The humble shall hear of it and be glad.3 Oh, magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt His name together.4 I sought the Lord, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears.5 They looked to Him and were radiant, And their faces were not ashamed.6 This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him, And saved him out of all his troubles.7 The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, And delivers them.8 Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! Psalm 34:1-8.
