The Marriage Supper of the Lamb

Let us be glad, rejoice, and give him glory, because the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his bride has prepared herself. 8 She was given fine linen to wear, bright and pure. For the fine linen represents the righteous acts of the saints. Revelation 19:7-9

Then he said to me, “Write: Blessed are those invited to the marriage feast of the Lamb!” He also said to me, “These words of God are true.” Revelation 19:9

Dig Deeper:
1. What has the Book of Revelation revealed to you so far in this series?
2. Why is it important to focus on who is coming for the final battle, what it will be like, and why it is important verses the specific timing of when it will happen?
3. Read Revelation 16:1-2. Who is God’s wrath being poured out on? What is their response? What does this say about God’s view of sin?
4. Read Revelation 17:1-6. How is this woman a representation of Babylon (prideful defiance, false belief system of antichrist, confusion, and ultimately rebellion against God)?
5. John states that he is “greatly astonished” (v6). What is most astonishing to you about this woman?
6. Read Revelation 17:7-18. Why is it helpful to understand the meaning of the woman and of the beast? Who is ultimately in control? How is this evident in this passage?
7. Read Revelation 18:1-8. How are these verses a comfort to us? How does knowing that God is a just God encourage you?
8. Read Revelation 18:9-20. Why does the world mourn Babylon? What are they focused on (vs.14) that contributes to this mourning?
9. How does our current world resemble Babylon? How is it different?
10. Read Revelation 19:1-5. How does this reflect what true worship looks like?
11. Read Revelation 19:6-9. Why is marriage used here to symbolize the union of Jesus to His church?
12. Read Revelation 19:11-16. Jesus is on a white horse before the battle. Why is this significant?
13. Of all the ways in which Jesus is described in this passage, what is most exciting to you? Why?
14. Read Revelation 19:17-21. How is Jesus’s second coming different than his first coming?
15. What encouragement do you find in Revelation 16-19? How about warnings or convictions?
16. What eternal truths or principles do I find in these verses?
17. What is the Holy Spirit trying to teach me through these verses? What changes do I need to make in my life to act on what I am learning?
18. What was your most significant takeaway from this week’s sermon, scripture reading, or discussion with your small group?

Live It Out:

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ! Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the Lord’s work, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain - 1 Corinthians 15:57-58

Live your life with the end in mind. This week, focus on being:

1. Steadfast. A steadfast person stands firmly in the Word and cannot be “tossed by the waves and blown around by every wind of teaching, by human cunning with cleverness in techniques of deceit” (Ephesians 4:14). To stand firmly in the Word is to know the Word of God. Spend time in the Word, not only reading it but allowing it to change your heart and mind so that it shapes you and allows you to remain steadfast.
2. Immovable. “Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never allow the righteous to be shaken.” (Psalm 55:22). The Bible, especially the Psalms, are filled with verses about those, whose sights are set on God, are not shaken. Spend time in prayer, casting your burden on God so that he will give you strength to withstand anything this world throws at you.
3. Always excelling in the Lord’s work. We serve an amazing God. “Whatever you do, do it from the heart, as something done for the Lord and not for people” (Colossians 3:23). Whatever work you have this week, glorify God in it. Look for opportunities to share Him with others, and continually thank Him for all that He is.
