Make A Difference - #5 In Your Community
God has given us everything we need to make a difference in our life, family, church, community, and world.

Our theme for the month of October is Make a Difference.
It's pretty simple to understand, but seemingly difficult for people to carry out. It requires a desire to reorganize one's life around kingdom priorities, and a willingness to live life with an eternal perspective and not an earthly one.

We've been looking at a saying by Pastor Greg Mattee this month..."God has to do something in you before He can do something through you."
So far in our series we've learned about making a difference in our life, our family, our church, our world....and now today, our community.

Last Sunday we hosted key leaders from J-Life Africa. They tied the thoughts of this series together through their teaching, life, stories, and ministry examples.
When people put their faith in Jesus they are SAVED. They become a new creation with a new IDENTITY.
If genuine, this will be demonstrated by a CHANGED lifestyle which has the PRIORITY of honoring God and helping people.
They intentionally seek to make disciples in their church and in their community.

Today our final thought is about making a difference in our community.
Community is the place where we work, go to school, socialize, enjoy life, travel, and anywhere that we encounter others outside of the body of Christ.
We are talking about making a spiritual difference in someone's life, not just helping society in some meaningful way.
We see Peter and John do this in Acts 3. They made a real difference in the life of a single person in their community. In the process of doing good to this man, they found a way to present the Gospel to him.

This is an example of what we've been learning in Matthew 5:14-16. Jesus taught that our changed life would produce "good deeds" which will not only help people, but spiritually impact them as well.
If it is truly your desire to make a difference in your community, then we'll look at 4 very practical actions we can take.
God is the only one who will make the spiritual difference if we act as His faithful spiritual delivery person!

One way or another, you will make a spiritual difference in the lives of those who encounter you on their life's journey. Someone is following you!
1. You will be a NEGATIVE example of a Christ-follower.
2. You will be a NEUTRAL example of a Christ-follower.
3. You will be a NOBEL example of a Christ-follower
