1. Where did Ruth glean?
“Let me go to the fields and pick up the leftover grain behind anyone in whose eyes I find favor. . . .

2. Why would Boaz take notice of Ruth?
“Who does that young woman belong to? . . . At his, she bowed down with her face to the ground. She asked him, ‘Why have I found such favor in your eyes that you notice me—a foreigner?’” (v5, 10).

God was working his blessed hesed way before you experienced a bitter hand.
3. How does Boaz show hesed to Ruth… and Naomi? (v8–18)
“Why have I found such favor in your eyes…. You have put me at ease by speaking kindly to your servant—though I do not have the standing of one of your servants” (v10, 13).

1. He sees her as God sees her (v8).
“My daughter, listen to me.”
2. He directs her to stay in his field and his community (v8)
“Don’t go and glean in another field, stay with the women who work for me.”
3. He protects her (v9).
“I’ve told the men not to lay a hand on you.”
4. He serves her (v9)
“Whenever you’re thirsty, drink from the jars the men have filled.”
5. He speaks praise and blessing over her (v11–13)
“May the Lord repay you; may He richly reward you.”
6. He invites her to dine with him (v14–15)
“At mealtime, Boaz said, ‘Come, have some bread and roasted grain.’”
7. He multiplies her workload (v16)
“Pull out stalks for her and leave for her to pick up.”
