Dig Deeper:
1. The theme of Revelation is the gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ. How does this understanding affect how you interpret this book? How does it affect the original hearers of Revelation?
2. Why is it important to have unity in the essentials and liberty in the non-essentials of our Christian faith?
3. Revelation 6 connects to Zechariah 1:7-17 and 6:1-8. How are these visions different from Revelation? How do they correlate with the vision of Revelation?
4. Read Revelation 6:1-4. Describe the white and red horsemen. What weapons do each have? What is each given?
5. The white horseman is a symbol for deception. What does spiritual deception look like in our world today?
6. The red horseman has power to “take peace from the earth.” What could that mean in the last days?
7. Read Revelation 6:5-8. Describe the black and pale green horsemen. What weapons do each have? What is each given?
8. The black horseman represents famine and food shortage. Where in the Bible have we seen this before? Where else in history have we seen this?
9. God is sovereign throughout the events mentioned here. He works all things for good. How can God work what is described here for good?
10. Read Revelation 6:9-17. Who are the people seen at this altar? What do they have in common?
11. There is a demand for accountability seen here. Where do we demand accountability in our lives?
12. Who is trying to hide in verse 15? What does this say about the world? What does it say about God?
13. Read Revelation 7:1-17. Describe what is taking place in these verses. What is this passage ultimately about?
14. What is God doing in Revelation 7? What are those worshiping Him doing? What can believers look forward to in the days to come?
15. As a believer, we wait for when we will be with God. How has this week’s study helped you think about the process of waiting?
16. What encouragement do you find in Revelation 4-5? How about warnings or convictions?
17. What eternal truths or principles do I find in these verses?
18. What is the Holy Spirit trying to teach me through these verses? What changes do I need to make in my life to act on what I am learning?
19. What was your most significant takeaway from this week’s sermon, scripture reading, or discussion with your small group?

Live It Out:

Know that God is sovereign. In Revelation, permission is given by God for all that occurs in these chapters, indicating that He is sovereign. Think of a trial that you have experienced (or are experiencing) in your life. Does your response to trials indicate that you believe God is sovereign? What does it practically look like to trust in the sovereignty of God, especially during a trial?

Respond to sin. Are you broken over your sin? Are you urgent to confess it? Take time reflecting on how your response to sin is related to your relationship with God. Spend time with God, confessing and repenting as you pray. Thank God that your sins are already forgiven because of what Jesus did on the cross.

Be in community. Do you have others in your life that hold you accountable? Who you trust and respect? If you are in a small group, examine how you can encourage others in your group as well as ways you can share about your own trials you are experiencing in order to be encouraged by others. If you are not in a small group, look at www.thebridgevenice.com/bridge-groups to learn more about how to get connected.

Tell others about Jesus. Are you faithful to witnessing to others about the saving grace of Jesus Christ? For the Christian, Revelation should spur us on to proclaim the gospel everywhere we go. Who in your life is unsaved and on the path to experience God’s eternal judgement? Pray for personal boldness in the gospel, and pray for unbelievers around the world to turn from their sin and to trust in Christ as Savior and Lord.
