1.What was it?
- The innermost room of the wilderness Temple.
- The room that housed the Ark Of The Covenant, the symbol of Israel’s special relationship to God & the place of his very presence.The Holy Of Holies was separated from the Inner Courts by a thick curtain or “Veil”
- This is the place where God himself would inhabit for the purpose of speaking with Moses & the fulfillment of atonement of the sins of the nation of Israel.

3. What Was There & What Did it represent?
High Priest
And the Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron your brother not to come at any time into the Holy Place inside the veil, before the mercy seat that is on the ark, so that he may not die. For I will appear in the cloud over the mercy seat. 33 He shall make atonement for the holy sanctuary, and he shall make atonement for the tent of meeting and for the altar, and he shall make atonement for the priests and for all the people of the assembly.34 And this shall be a statute forever for you, that atonement may be made for the people of Israel once in the year because of all their sins.” And Aaron did as the Lord commanded Moses. Leviticus 16:32-34
Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:14-16
Scape Goat
“And when he has made an end of atoning for the Holy Place and the tent of meeting and the altar, he shall present the live goat.21 And Aaron shall lay both his hands on the head of the live goat, and confess over it all the iniquities of the people of Israel, and all their transgressions, all their sins. And he shall put them on the head of the goat and send it away into the wilderness by the hand of a man who is in readiness.22 The goat shall bear all their iniquities on itself to a remote area, and he shall let the goat go free in the wilderness. Leviticus 16:20-22
Veil
31 “And you shall make a veil of blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen. It shall be made with cherubim skillfully worked into it.32 And you shall hang it on four pillars of acacia overlaid with gold, with hooks of gold, on four bases of silver.33 And you shall hang the veil from the clasps, and bring the ark of the testimony in there within the veil. And the veil shall separate for you the Holy Place from the Most Holy. Exodus 26: 31-33
Ark Of The Covenant
10 “They shall make an ark of acacia wood. Two cubits[a] and a half shall be its length, a cubit and a half its breadth, and a cubit and a half its height.11 You shall overlay it with pure gold, inside and outside shall you overlay it, and you shall make on it a molding of gold around it.12 You shall cast four rings of gold for it and put them on its four feet, two rings on the one side of it, and two rings on the other side of it.13 You shall make poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold.14 And you shall put the poles into the rings on the sides of the ark to carry the ark by them.15 The poles shall remain in the rings of the ark; they shall not be taken from it.16 And you shall put into the ark the testimony that I shall give you.

Mercy Seat
17 “You shall make a mercy seat[a] of pure gold. Two cubits and a half shall be its length, and a cubit and a half its breadth.18 And you shall make two cherubim of gold; of hammered work shall you make them, on the two ends of the mercy seat.19 Make one cherub on the one end, and one cherub on the other end. Of one piece with the mercy seat shall you make the cherubim on its two ends.20 The cherubim shall spread out their wings above, overshadowing the mercy seat with their wings, their faces one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubim be.21 And you shall put the mercy seat on the top of the ark, and in the ark you shall put the testimony that I shall give you.22 There I will meet with you, and from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim that are on the ark of the testimony, I will speak with you about all that I will give you in commandment for the people of Israel. Exodus 25:17-22

Rod of Aaron
6 Moses spoke to the people of Israel. And all their chiefs gave him staffs, one for each chief, according to their fathers' houses, twelve staffs. And the staff of Aaron was among their staffs. 7 And Moses deposited the staffs before the Lord in the tent of the testimony.8 On the next day Moses went into the tent of the testimony, and behold, the staff of Aaron for the house of Levi had sprouted and put forth buds and produced blossoms, and it bore ripe almonds. 9 Then Moses brought out all the staffs from before the Lord to all the people of Israel. And they looked, and each man took his staff. 10 And the Lord said to Moses, “Put back the staff of Aaron before the testimony, to be kept as a sign for the rebels, that you may make an end of their grumblings against me, lest they die.” 11 Thus did Moses; as the Lord commanded him, so he did. Numbers 17:6-11

- The presence of God is no longer found there, HE’S NOW IN YOU!
- The sacrificed blood offering… JESUS
- The scape goat taking our sin… JESUS
- The High priest… JESUS
- The vail we must go through… JESUS
- The staff of priesthood… JESUS gave it to us
- The everlasting manna… JESUS
- The old covenant now made new IN… JESUS
- The Mercy Seat, What happened there? God came to earth to be with his people & provide a way of atonement… JESUS!
- The presence of God is no longer found there, HE’S NOW IN YOU!
- The sacrificed blood offering… JESUS
- The scape goat taking our sin… JESUS
- The High priest… JESUS
- The vail we must go through… JESUS
- The staff of priesthood… JESUS gave it to us
- The everlasting manna… JESUS
