1.What in the sermon was new or challenging to you?
2. How did the sermon and or passage stir up hope in Jesus in your heart?
3. Why do you think so many people want to have the spiritual gift of teaching? What do you make of that in light of James 3:1?
4. Describe a time when what you said gave guidance to or impacted you physically (v. 2).
5. Describe a time when the poisonous words from someone else harmed you (v8). Give an example of a time your careless words scorched someone else (v.6).
6. Read Mt 12:33-37. Why is it more appealing to focus primarily on learning communication techniques than changing communication through the heart? What negative things happen if someone focuses solely on communication techniques but doesn't change the heart?
