Key Passages: Luke 18:31-34, Psalm 77:1-2

Luke 18:31-34 (NLT) - 31 Taking the twelve disciples aside, Jesus said, "Listen, we're going up to Jerusalem, where all the predictions of the prophets concerning the Son of Man will come true. 32 He will be handed over to the Romans, and he will be mocked, treated shamefully, and spit upon. 33 They will flog him with a whip and kill him, but on the third day he will rise again." 34 But they didn't understand any of this. The significance of his words was hidden from them, and they failed to grasp what he was talking about.

What we think God SHOULD DO often keeps us from seeing what God IS DOING.

Sometimes God PLANS THE PAIN.

The problem with blindspots is that you CAN’T SEE THEM!

Psalm77:1-2 (NLT) - 1 I cry out to God; yes, I shout. Oh, that God would listen to me! 2 When I was in deep trouble, I searched for the Lord. All night long I prayed, with hands lifted toward heaven, but my soul was not comforted.

How to See Your Blindspots?
• Find friends with whom you can BE VULNERABLE.
• Devote yourself to a COMMUNITY OF FAITH.
• Stick with JESUS - even when you don’t get it.

Community Group Study Questions:
Spend some time prayerfully answering the following questions in preparation for this week’s Community Group discussion.

1. Why did Jesus tell His disciples of His coming death? Why were they caught off guard when Jesus was killed? Why was it “hidden from them” (Luke 18:34)?

2. In what ways are we like these disciples?

3. As you read all of Psalm 77, where do you see a change in his perspective? What changed?

4. What are the qualifications for a friend with whom you can be vulnerable?

5. How does a community of faith help you grow? Where is this happening for you? How can you lean into that more?

6. How can we pray for you?
