Nehemiah: The Call to the Generosity
Series: Nehemiah: The Call to the Wall Money problems are rarely only money problems. We often think if we just had more, everything would be good!!?!? If we can’t be good stewards and glorify God with little, we won’t with more. Nehemiah was a great leader and a giver. Let's look at his example and at what the New Testament has to say about being a giver like Nehemiah.

Generosity is an invitation to:
a. Develop a deeper relationship with God, and others.
i. God asks us to be givers not because He needs our time, talent, and treasure but because he wants our hearts!
b. Join Him in what He’s doing.
c. Freedom--Generosity can be very freeing!
Acts 20:35 “It is more blessed to give than to receive”. NIV

Last Week Nehemiah 5
a. He operates in the opposite spirit. Instead of greed generosity.
i. BTW, if you have a generosity problem:
1. Love the Lord.
2. Give it away. (Operate in the opposite spirit)
Nehemiah has no idea that this diary of his exploits would be included in the historical record of the Bible for all generations to see.
Truly he invested in something that outlived him!

1. The opportunity and willingness to give are both by the grace of God.
“Not-enough”, is not an amount, it’s a Mindset.
i. I don’t have enough time…
ii. I don’t have enough ability…
iii. I don’t have enough resources (money)
We serve a God of abundance that wants to meet our needs and provide enough for us to meet the needs of others.
The Macedonians had a “More-than-enough” mindset

Another mindset transition: from I’ll give when…to I’ll give now
This is the key to their generosity: they first gave themselves to the Lord, then to their brothers and sisters
