Dig Deeper:
1. Were you able to pray this week for a local mission partner? Were you able to talk with a local mission partner last Sunday? Share how that has impacted you this week.
2. Discuss what the word “mission” means.
3. Why is it important for a church to have a mission statement?
4. People can feel inadequate or intimated when it comes to living on mission. Which one do you most relate to? Why?
5. Read Acts 8:26. Who is Philip? Where does the angel tell Philip to go? If you were Philip, how would you feel about going there?
6. Read Acts 8:27-28. How does Philip respond? Have you ever had a prompting from God that you ignored or argued against? What was the outcome?
7. Why was the Ethiopian traveling? Why is that significant? Based on Pastor Josh’s sermon last week, do you think the Ethiopian was resistant, receptive, seeking, or ready for the gospel?
8. Read Acts 8:29-30. How does Philip approach the man? Describe other scenarios of how Philip could have responded in a less effective way.
9. Just like Philip was called to go and join the chariot, do you feel like God has placed you in Southwest Florida for a specific reason? How about in your career or your neighborhood?
10. Read Acts 8:31-35. Have you ever shared the good news about Jesus with someone else? Describe what happened.
11. Does Philip seem excited to speak with the man? Why or why not?
12. Read Colossians 4:5-6. What is tact? Why is it important in relationships? Why is it important in sharing the gospel?
13. Read Acts 8:36-38. How does Philip help encourage this man to be baptized?
14. Read Acts 8:39-40. Why do you think the Spirit of the Lord carried Philip away when they came out of the water? Why didn’t Philip accompany this man back to his town? Instead, what did Philip do? What did the Ethiopian do?
15. What does it look like to “live sent”?
16. What are some tangible ways to pray, give, and go in our city, our nation, and the world?

Live It Out:

Whose chariot are you sitting in this week? Who is God’s Spirit leading you to show and share Jesus? God calls us to join Him in His mission to seek and save the lost. This week,

1. Be led by the Holy Spirit. Are you listening to the leading of the Holy Spirit? Are you sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s prompting to love and talk with people about faith in Jesus? This week, lean in to what the Holy Spirit is prompting, nudging, or impressing upon you to engage with someone in a conversation about the gospel.

2. Be aware of who God want you to invest in. Do you feel like God has put certain people in your life for a reason? Who do you know that is most receptive to the gospel? Think of one person this week who you can be a friend to and a good listener for them. Be spiritually ready, like Philip, and do not miss an opportunity to talk about Jesus when the moment presents itself.

3. Be ready to share your faith at any time. Have intellectually readiness when it comes to sharing the good news. Like Philip, be ready and recognize other people’s needs. Look for opportunities to share your faith with others this week.
