We have defined Christian Endurance as:
Possessing faith that goes the distance in knowing Jesus, being known by Jesus, becoming more like Jesus, and, finally, being [physically present] with Jesus.
hey

The endurance of your faith is tied to the diamond of your life.

hey

The [good soil] faith that goes the distance covenants with a body going towards God’s final destination.

hey

Discipline the Dos that GO towards the Goal. To go the DISTANCE, you need PERSISTENCE.

Fire Forges Faith
Suffering Strengthens Salvation
Pain Produces Perseverance

MOMENTS of REST and RECOVERY are needed
to RENEW and RESTORE your MACHINE
so that it will go the distance.
1. You need to ADOPT God’s RHYTHMS of REST.
Rhythms of Rest allow the body to be strengthened inwardly from what the body did and received outwardly.
Three Rhythms of Rest:
1. Day (Work) and Night (Sleep)…
How much sleep do I need? (Research Suggests)
- Adults need 7–8 hours of sleep each night
- Teens need 8 to 10 hours of sleep each night
- School-aged children need 9 to 12 hours of sleep each night
- Preschoolers need to sleep between 10 and 13 hours a day (including naps)
- Toddlers need to sleep between 11 and 14 hours a day (including naps)
- Babies need to sleep between 12 and 16 hours a day (including naps)
- Newborns need to sleep between 14 and 17 hours a day
Getting enough sleep has many benefits. It can help you:
- Get sick less often
- Stay at a healthy weight
- Lower your risk for serious health problems, like diabetes and heart disease
- Reduce stress and improve your mood
- Think more clearly and do better in school and at work
- Get along better with people
- Make good decisions and avoid injuries
Sabbathing (Weekly Rest)…
- We image God
- We focus on God
- We rest in the work we’ve done
- We recover from the work we’ve done
- We process the work we’ve done
- We praise God for the work we were able to do
- We praise God for the fruit He produced from the work we did
- We give back to God for what He has richly given to us.
- We trust God that He can do more through us in six days than He can in seven
- We demonstrate God’s presence with us to other people who follow other gods
Sabbatical-ing (Extended-seasons of Rest)…
Adopting God’s Rhythms of Rest restores and renews us to participate in God’s Mission of Redemption
2. You need to ACCEPT you need SEASONS of SLOW.
Wait on the Lord for a Second Wind.
A second wind is a phenomenon where you quickly gain energy and/or strength during a run or workout immediately following a stage when you feel out of breath, fatigued, or unable to continue.
Wait on the Lord to be your strength.
Wait on the Lord to be your stability and sustainability.
Waiting on the Lord prevents weariness in life.
3. You need to ASCERTAIN the right BOUTS of BREATHING.
The health benefits of nose breathing are undeniable. One of the many benefits is that the sinuses release a huge boost of nitric oxide, a molecule that plays an essential role in increasing circulation and delivering oxygen into cells. Immune function, weight, circulation, and mood…can all be heavily influenced by the amount of nitric oxide in the body. . . .

The key to optimum breathing, and all the health, endurance, and longevity benefits that come with it, is to practice fewer inhales and exhales in a smaller volume. To breathe, but to breathe less. Slower, longer exhales, of course, mean higher carbon dioxide levels. With that bonus carbon dioxide, we gain a higher aerobic endurance. This measurement of highest oxygen consumption, called V02 max, is the best gauge of cardiorespiratory fitness.

Training the body to breathe less actually increases V02 max, which can not only boost athletic stamina but also help us live longer and healthier lives. Breathing less offered huge benefits. If athletes kept at it for several weeks, their muscles adapted to tolerate more lactate accumulation, which allowed their bodies to pull more energy during states of heavy anaerobic stress, and, as a result, train harder and longer. (Breath, 49–50).
YHWH, the covenant name for God =
an onomatopoeia for breath.
How well we breathe is tied to how well we live.
When you adopt the rhythms of rest, accept the seasons of slow, and ascertain the bouts of breathing, you holistically bring rest and recovery to your life, which allows your life to be renewed and restored so that you can continue to run the race with perseverance.
