3 practical questions for being a Good Samaritan:
#1. How well do you see?
The Priest saw a costly sacrifice for purification if he touched the man by the side of the road and the man died. The Levite saw a ceremonial defilement that would keep him from performing his duties at the Temple. The Samaritan saw a human being formed in the image of God who was in need.
Who do you find easiest to help:
#1. A family member, #2. A neighbor, #3. A fellow worker, #4. A long-term friend, #5. A total stranger. Who do you find it easiest to ignore?
#2. Where will you spend time?
Do you often feel you don’t have enough time to help someone else? Do you think you’re generous with your time or greedy with your time? Do you want more time for yourself because you: #1. Work too much, #2. Have little kids at home that demand your time, #3. Have parents who need assistance?
#3. In what will you invest?
Who has invested in you and what resources did they use: time, talent or treasure???
Family Time: Read the story with your kids and talk about who the most helpful person is in your lives.
