Unhindered: Maybe Not?
Acts 28:31-31 For two whole years, Paul stayed there in his own rented house and welcomed all who came to see him. He proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ—with all boldness and without hindrance!
Big Idea: If you’re looking for a reason not to share your faith, you’ll probably find one.
The 5 main purposes of the church:
▪Discipleship
▪Relationships
▪Evangelism
▪Adoration
▪Ministry
•When is the last time you did something that was so incredible that you just couldn’t wait to tell someone else about it? Who did you tell? How did they respond?
•Have you ever felt like one of these might have kept you from sharing about your faith with someone else?
•What other reasons might someone have for why they wouldn’t want to share their faith with another person? How do those reasons hold up?
▪Evangelism.
▪Sharing our faith.
▪Spreading the gospel.
▪Inviting someone to church.
Evangelism…makes Christians feel uneasy.
FEAR
ALL TRUTH IS VALID
EVANGELISM FEELS JUDGMENTAL
The reasons… do they hold up?
FEAR- The problem is that when we’re afraid, it results in us not sharing our faith.
Then the eleven disciples left for Galilee, going to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him—but some of them doubted! Matthew 28:16-17 (NLT)
They didn’t let their fear stop them from doing what they knew they needed to do.
“I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.” ~Nelson Mandela
The same God that empowered them to overcome their fears is the very same God that lives inside you right now.
ALL TRUTH IS VALID
“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me”. John 14:6 NLT
EVANGELISM FEELS JUDGMENTAL
“…seek and save those who are lost,…” Luke 19:10 - NLT
Instead of being judgmental, we’re actually inviting that person to join us to walk a little further down the road. “I’ve been where you are on this journey, and I can’t wait until you see what I’ve seen.”
Why are we still so hesitant to share our faith with those around us?
“US” versus “THEM”
We’re here,..............................and they’re… there.
What do we do...
1.Keep chasing after Jesus yourself.
“You can’t lead anyone else further than you have gone yourself.”
2. Be able to share what Jesus is doing in your life.
“And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it.” 1 Peter 3:15b (NLT)
3. Pray for people who aren’t here yet.
If you’re looking for an excuse not to share your faith, you’ll probably find one.
Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:18-20 (NLT)
