How many religions are there in the world?
A. Over 5,000
B. About 2,000
C. About 500
D. 2
I. Moses taught two religions.
Deuteronomy 30.19-20 I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live, loving the LORD your God, obeying his voice and holding fast to him, for he is your life and length of days, that you may dwell in the land that the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.
II. Solomon taught two religions.
Proverbs 1:2 To know wisdom and instruction, to understand words of insight.

Proverbs 1:32 For the simple are killed by their turning away, and the complacency of fools destroys them.
Proverbs 10:27-29 The fear of the Lord prolongs life, but the years of the wicked will be short. The hope of the righteous brings joy, but the expectation of the wicked will perish. The way of the Lord is a stronghold to the blameless, but destruction to evildoers.

Proverbs 5:22-23 The iniquities of the wicked ensnare him, and he is held fast in the cords of his sin. He dies for lack of discipline, and because of his great folly he is led astray.
Proverbs 9:10-11 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight. For by me your days will be multiplied, and years will be added to your life.
III. The Prophets taught two religions.
Jeremiah 17: 5 Thus says the LORD: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart turns away from the LORD.”
Jeremiah 17: 7 Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD.
IV. The New Testament apostles taught two religions.
Romans 1:24-25 Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.
“The ultimate metaphysical secret, if we dare to state it so simply, is that there are no boundaries in the universe.” —Ken Wilbur
Matthew 7:13-14 Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.
Isaiah 55:7 Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous his thoughts.
Discussion Questions
1. How could you use the simple concept of One-ism and Two-ism to start a conversation that could lead to sharing the gospel of Christ?
2. Roger shared Ken Wilbur’s pagan dogma: “The ultimate metaphysical secret, if we dare to state it so simply, is that there are no boundaries in the universe.” How did that impact you? Do you see people in your circle of influence living by this principle?
3. Eastern pagan religious concepts are becoming increasingly popular in America. How are these concepts—especially the idea that all is one—in conflict with Scripture?
4. What are other areas of culture where you see pagan ideas—the denial of the binary Creator/creature distinction—demonstrated?
