Matthew 22:37-39: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[c] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.
So how do we love others as ourselves and how do we stay committed to the plan and will God has for our lives ?
1. Remember the stakes. They’re High.
Vs. 1-3 - After we had torn ourselves away from them, we put out to sea and sailed straight to Kos. The next day we went to Rhodes and from there to Patara. 2 We found a ship crossing over to Phoenicia, went on board and set sail. 3 After sighting Cyprus and passing to the south of it, we sailed on to Syria. We landed at Tyre, where our ship was to unload its cargo.
Acts 20:18-19: You know how I lived the whole time I was with you, from the first day I came into the province of Asia. 19 I served the Lord with great humility and with tears.
v31 So be on your guard! Remember that for three years I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears.
2. Spend time with Jesus.
Acts 21 - We sought out the disciples there and stayed with them seven days. Through the Spirit they urged Paul not to go on to Jerusalem.
Vs. 10-11 - After we had been there a number ofdays, a prophet named Agabus came down from Judea. 11 Coming over to us, he took Paul’s belt, tied his own hands and feet with it and said, “The Holy Spirit says, ‘In this way the Jewish leaders in Jerusalem will bind the owner of this belt and will hand him over to the Gentiles.’”
3. Live for Eternity.
Vs. 12-13 - 12 When we heard this, we and the people there pleaded with Paul not to go up to Jerusalem. 13 Then Paul answered, “Why are you weeping and breaking my heart? I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”
Conclusion
Don’t let go of the call of God on your life and walk in His purposes. Hold on to it and chase after it wherever it may take you.
Remember Isaiah 41:10 that says - So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Remember that even when times come where we face hardship, discouragement, and even opposition, know God will fight our battles. Like He said in Nehemiah 4:20.
And as we walk humbly, working to Honor and Glorify God and to push forward His purposes, we can be sure that no matter what lies ahead or no matter how great the difficulties, God is with us to care for us, fill us, empower us, strengthen us, and fight our battles. And know that no matter what happens, it's all worth it.
