Everyone worships someone or something.
It comes with our original equipment. All ancient people groups worshipped. To be made in the image of God is to be a worshipper!

As priests, we offer spiritual sacrifices “through Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 2:5).
i. No longer are priests a separate class, and no longer do they offer bulls, goats, and lambs on the altar (Hebrews 10:1–11).
ii. Not only do NT believers constitute the new priesthood, they are the “living stones” forming the spiritual temple of God (1 Peter 2:5).
iii. Our worship today involves the offering of spiritual sacrifices.
Spiritual sacrifices include prayers, praises, our will, bodies, time, talents and treasure. Such sacrifices are made acceptable to God only through Jesus Christ, the great High Priest.

2. When: at all times, continually
3. What: offer up a sacrifice of praise
a. The fruit of lips
“What proceeds from the lips is regarded as fruit, which reveals the character of its source, as the fruit of a tree reveals the nature of the tree.” (Guthrie)

1. Praise is much more than something we do at church.
2. It is in the darkest times that what’s really inside comes out
3. Praise doesn’t always change my circumstances, but it changes me.
a. It’s not a formula. Not a guarantee of a change.
4. Their choice to live a life of Praise brought freedom:
a. To the demon possessed woman
b. To the other prisoners
c. To the jailer and his family
29 Then he called for a light, ran in, and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. 30 And he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” 31 So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” 32 Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. 33 And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes. And immediately he and all his family were baptized. 34 Now when he had brought them into his house, he set food before them; and he rejoiced, having believed in God with all his household. NKJV
d. And to them as well!
They knew they were not there because of the government, or any one individual, but because God ordained them to be there for His purposes!
