Colossians 3:12-14

SOLOMON ANDRIA:
These Christian virtues will restore human relationships....
But they can only be shown if we are willing to forgive each other when we fail.
- Forgiveness is choosing to bear the cost of a debt owed rather than extracting it from the wrongdoer.
- Forgiveness is refusing to give into a desire for revenge and retribution and to will the well-being of the wrongdoer.
THE "HOW" OF FORGIVENESS:
- Recognize your own sin and receive God's grace.

When we forgive and release someone from our judgement, we are leaving room for God to work in their life.
SOLOMON ANDRIA
Such forgiveness may sometimes seem impossible, until we remember our own experience of the Lord's forgiveness.
PRACTICING FORGIVENESS
- Imagine the person that you have something against.
- What do they owe? Name that in your mind.
- Now let's move to forgiveness by saying...
Today, I choose to forgive _____ (name).
What I needed from you was ______."
- I cancel the debt(s) you owe me. (list them all)
- I release you from my judgment. Lord, please forgive me for any way I have held on to my judgment in bitterness. I choose to entrust _____ to your righteous judgment.
- I choose to bless ____ now, in Jesus' Name.
