“Grace Filled Generosity” (Part 5)

Introduction:
According to Church Trac Tithing Statistics:
· ~ 5% of churchgoers tithe (Church Development).
· ~ Out of the 247 million U.S. citizens identifying as Christians, 1.5 million people tithe (Sharefaith). That’s less than 1%.
~ 77% of tithers give more than 10% (Health Research Funding).

9. The significance of our giving.

a. Your giving symbolizes your confession to the gospel of Christ.

b. Paul was attempting to promote solidarity between Jews and Gentiles in the body of Christ. (The great mystery of the gospel)

This was the great mystery of the gospel that Jews and Gentiles were now heirs to the same promises.

He elaborated on this a little more in:

10. Our giving causes thanksgiving to God.

a. The ultimate result of all giving should increase thanksgiving and praise to God.

v11 ‘your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

v12 ‘this service that you perform . . . is . . . overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.’

v13 ‘men will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity.

v15 ‘Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!’

In Conclusion:

It is truly amazing to know how much is involved every time we give money. We learned the grace of God is involved, the finished work of Christ, and the unity of the Spirit are all key factors.
What an awesome privilege we have in helping others give thanks and glory to God. God receiving the glory should be the highest goal in all our giving. I challenge you after hearing this message to excel in grace-filled generosity!
