Roughly 33% of the Bible is poetry
There are some things or realities that can only be captured in poetry, allegory, and symbolism
And God hears the cries of his people

Teaching Point: Singing is internalizing what God has done

- The response is singing
- The response is praising
- The response is to let emotions out through song, lyric and verse
Singing internalizes and roots what God has done within us
Teaching Point: God and Violence

- First we should always be concerned with all forms of violence because Jesus taught, lived, and practiced non-violence

- So, we should be concerned with all forms of violence because of the example of Jesus
Those who pursue and use violence, will find it
Teaching Point: God's Character
It's out of love to welcome them home
The might of God is the unfailing love of God
Oppression of all forms, robs people of "home"
It's because of love, and to welcome them home
Teaching Point: Miriam's song
MAIN POINT:

God leads us through darkness, difficulty, and oppression by His love to welcome us home
CHALLENGE:

1) To cry out to God
2) Trust in his deliverance
3) Sing songs of praise to Him
Notice that it's God who acts, the Israelites just need to trust
