Peter - Rock On

1 Peter and 2 Peter are letters attributed to Peter, one of Jesus' first apostles. Following Jesus marks Christians as different from those around us. Peter wrote to help the Christians in his day understand how to live in a world that doesn't understand us, but how to also love and care for the world so that it can experience the hope of Jesus.

SERMON OUTLINE:

I. "You shall be holy, for I am holy"

II. "Be Holy yourselves in all your conduct"

III. "The desires you formerly had in ignorance"

IV. "Like obedient children"

V. "Set all your hope"

VI. "Therefore"
NEXT STEPS:

Practice obedience this week.

1. Choose a practice or a command in the Bible that you haven't followed before.

2. Develop a plan to put this practice into place this week.

3. Put your plane into action.

4. At the end of the week, reflect on what the experience was like and what you learned.
GROWTH GROUP / PERSONAL REFLECTION QUESTIONS

1. According to 1 Peter 1:15, God is holy, and we are called to be holy as well. How does this call to holiness impact our understanding of God's calling on our lives as individuals and as a community of faith?

2. What does it mean to be "be holy?"

3. In 1 Peter 1:14, Peter urges believers not to conform to their former ignorant ways but to be holy in all their conduct. How does this exhortation resonate with you and why?

4. Peter emphasizes the importance of being obedient children in 1 Peter 1:14. How does our personal experience as children, or as a parent help, us understand Peter's instruction? How does being described as children of God reflect our relationship with Him?

5. How can we maintain a consistent pursuit of holiness in a world that often promotes the opposite?
