How does God relate with us?

1. Justly and Lovingly
Proverbs 16:4–6 (ESV) - The Lord has made everything for its purpose, even the wicked for the day of trouble. 5Everyone who is arrogant in heart is an abomination to the Lord; be assured, he will not go unpunished. 6By steadfast love and faithfulness iniquity is atoned for, and by the fear of the Lord one turns away from evil.

Proverbs 17:3 (ESV) - The crucible is for silver, and the furnace is for gold, and the Lord tests hearts.

Proverbs 20:27 (ESV) - The spirit of man is the lamp of the Lord, searching all his innermost parts.

2. Honestly
Proverbs 30:5–6 (ESV) - Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. 6Do not add to his words, lest he rebuke you and you be found a liar.

How should you respond to God?

1. Fear
Proverbs 28:14 (ESV) - Blessed is the one who fears the Lord always, but whoever hardens his heart will fall into calamity.

Proverbs 23:17 (ESV) - Let not your heart envy sinners, but continue in the fear of the Lord all the day.

2. Trust
Proverbs 3:5–6 (ESV) - Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. 6In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Proverbs 4:23 (ESV) - Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.

Proverbs 28:26 (ESV) - Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered.

Proverbs 3:7–8 (ESV) - Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. 8It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones.
Colossians 2:1–3 (ESV) - For I want you to know how great a struggle I have for you and for those at Laodicea and for all who have not seen me face to face, 2that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God’s mystery, which is Christ, 3in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
