“God did not want Isaac to die, but He wanted Abraham to sacrifice Isaac in his heart so it would be clear that Abraham loved God more than he loved his promised and long-awaited son.” – LASB notes
Jehovah is our Jireh. He is our Provider. God provided and saw to it that it was done. He made a way when there was no other way!
Just as God provided for Abraham and Isaac, He also provided for you and me. He provided His One and only Son as a substitute for the sacrifice, to pay the penalty for our sins so we didn’t have to.
What God asked of Abraham, He did Himself. The difference is, God followed through with the sacrifice of His One and Only Son so the penalty for sin could be paid and Jesus became our sacrificial Lamb to make atonement for our sins.
God will always provide more of Himself than He asks of us.
God provided a ram for Abraham and Isaac and God provided His One and Only Son, the Lamb of God, Who takes away the sins of the world.
“Obeying God is often a struggle because it may mean giving up something we truly want. We should not expect our obedience to God to be easy or to come naturally; rather, it is often our struggles to obey that drive us to pray more and depend on Him.” – LASB notes
God is asking you to trust Him today for your provision.
He has already given the ultimate provision by providing a way to eternal life through accepting the sacrifice Jesus made for us and choosing to follow Him daily.
God will provide for us even though it might look different than we expect because His ways are higher than our ways – Isaiah 55:9
What are you holding on to that you are afraid to let go of?
“It is difficult to let go of what we deeply love. What could be more proper than to love your only child? Yet when we do give to God what He asks, He returns to us far more than we could dream. The spiritual benefits of his blessings far outweigh our sacrifices. Have you withheld your love, your children, or your time from Him? Surrender them to Him, and trust Him to provide.” – LASB notes
Put your trust and faith in Him today and follow up your faith with the action steps of obedience and watch how he comes through and provides!
