B. What Are the Characteristics of a Disciple?
1. They died to themselves and gave up their old ways.

2. They were distinctly different than others around them in their lives.

3. They were called by Christ, not by their own strength
a. Luke 5:11 and Matthew 8:18-22
4. They were living learners (rather than just teacher-student), seeing and doing what Christ did.

5. They were to make more disciples and teach them to obey His commands.

C. The Why of Discipleship
1. Loneliness is on the rise and killing us.

2. We need connection to spur one another on.
3. We need to commit to learning what it means to follow Christ.
4. Growing means we are challenged in our beliefs and our actions. Are you living in Christlikeness and actively receiving accountability?
D. The How of Discipleship
1. We need disciple-makers and mentors.
2. If you are joining a group, stick with it for at least one month, if not more.
3. Know where to look for connections
a. Group leader tables in August, December, and April.
