God’s Names tell us who He is, what His character is like, and what we can expect from Him.
The word God is found throughout the Bible, but the Lord reveals Himself more personally through the Names with which He introduces Himself in Scripture.
Elohim means “The Sovereign, All-powerful One, or Mighty Creator”.
Yahweh or YHWH

Jehovah (Yehovah) or LORD
Adonai appears over 300 times in the Old Testament alone.

Abram is recognizing God not only as the One and Only God but also his Lord and Master. He was submitting to God’s Lordship!
That is what Adonai truly means, that we recognize Jehovah God, Yahweh, as Adonai, our Lord over all.
Adonai is The Lord, My Great Lord, My Sovereign Lord, Master and Majestic Lord, our total Authority!
We are called to know there is only One True God, but we can’t stop with that knowledge, we must choose to interact with Jehovah Yahweh and submit to Him as Adonai Yahweh.
This moves us from acknowledging the Lord to submitting to Him as My Lord!
That is what Adonai truly means, that we recognize Jehovah God, Yahweh, as Adonai, our Lord over all.

•Jeremiah referenced Adonai 11 times.
•Adonai is mentioned 15 times in Lamentations.
•But Ezekiel talked about Adonai over 115 times in just 26 chapters of his book!!

God the Father sent God the Son, Jesus, to make a way for us to have a relationship with Him through Jesus. When we recognize Who God is and that He made a way, and the only way is through Jesus, then we submit our lives to our Heavenly Master.
