“God, why did You let that happen?”


Psalm 73:11-14 - “What does God know?” they ask. “Does the Most High even know what’s happening?” 12Look at these wicked people - enjoying a life of ease while their riches multiply. 13Did I keep my heart pure for nothing? Did I keep myself innocent for no reason? 14I get nothing but trouble all day long; every morning brings me pain. (NLT)

1) If God is loving, why would He allow suffering?

If love is a choice, suffering is a possibility

2) If there is no God, who decides there’s evil?

There has to be an authority in order to have a standard.

3) Why do bad things happen to good people?

Maybe it’s because…

1) … we simply live in a broken world.


(John 16:33) “… In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the
world.”

2) … you brought it on yourself.


(Galatians 6:7-8) “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8 The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction …”

3) … God wants to do something better.


(John 9:3) "Neither this man nor his parents sinned," said Jesus, "but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life.”


(Matthew 27:45) “My God, My God, why…”


(John 3:16) “For God so loved the world that He gave His One and only Song, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

(Revelation 21:4) “He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.” (NLT)
