Parkerville Baptist Church
Acts of the Apostles 2:1-47
This Sunday, Anthony Palmieri will be continuing our new sermon series on the book of Acts, from Chapter 2.  Anthony says “What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think of the Holy Spirit? –  Gifts, Uncertainty, Miracles, Tongues, or maybe you’re not even sure? When it comes to the Holy Spirit there are lots of different opinions, experiences, and understandings. For some this is exciting while for others there is a hesitancy or maybe even scepticism. This Sunday we will look at Acts 2 when we will the delve into the coming of the Holy Spirit. We will try and bring a balanced and biblical understanding of the Holy Spirit coming in fullness.”

Why we exist …
Love God, love others, make disciples … that’s the commission Jesus left his followers.
At Parky, it’s our mission to do this by sharing our lives and creating pathways that inspire people to wholeheartedly follow Jesus.

"The Christian's life in all its aspects - intellectual and ethical, devotional and relational, upsurging in worship and outgoing in witness - it's supernatural; only the Spirit can initiate and sustain it. So apart from Him, not only will there be no lively believers and no lively congregations, there will be no believers and no congregations at all."
J.I. Packer
"It is by the spirit of Christ that we can be changed so that we become more like Christ, as we continue to maintain our focus on Him. Yes we have our part to play, in turning from what we know to be wrong, in the exercise of faith and discipline. But making us holy is essentially the work of the Holy Spirit."
John Stott
The CENTRALITY of the RESURRECTION in ACTS

The resurrection of Jesus is the central theme of the apostles' gospel preaching in the book of Acts (compare with the other themes below). In fact, Paul was renown for preaching Jesus and the resurrection (17:18) and was arrested and put on trial ultimately because of his belief in the resurrection (23:6; 24:21).
