Many evangelical Christians number one fear is evangelism.
How Do We Overcome the Fear of Evangelism?

Fear…
-they don’t know enough of the Bible to answer unbelievers’ questions,
-that because of their own sin and failures they will be perceived as hypocrites.
-unbelievers’ reactions, such as anger, harsh words, rejection, abandonment, or even physical abuse.

We cannot let our fear silence us.

God…
-gave this Great Commission to all of his followers,
-calls each of us, you and me to evangelize, to tell others about the problem of sin, the provision of Jesus Christ
-desires that no one “should perish, but that all should reach repentance” (2 Peter 3:9b).

So How Do We Overcome the Fear of Evangelizing?


Recognize where fear comes from.

In the context of evangelism, fear is not from God.
“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control” (2 Timothy 1:7).
Recognize that your fear of evangelism comes from the Enemy. Let’s not give him the pleasure of silencing us.

Rely on the Holy Spirit
Praise God that he has greater power than Satan-unlimited power (1 John 4:4).

Pray About Your Fears
“do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God." Philippians 4:6
“I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears.” Psalm 34:4

Through the Spirit we are emboldened and empowered, like the apostles in the book of Acts, to speak life-saving words to those who are perishing.“And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and
continued to speak the word of God with boldness.” Acts 4:31

“After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, ”Revelation 7:9
