Jesus knew that His work was nearly finished and that the time was approaching for Him to return to His Father in heaven. Jesus and His disciples were just about to eat the Passover meal. Jesus loved His disciples and wanted to show them how much He loved them, so He got up and tied a towel around His waist. He then poured water into a bowl and began to wash His disciple’s feet, drying them with the towel he had around His waist. He even washed the feet of Judas, even though He knew that Judas would betray Him soon.

When Jesus had finished, He asked the disciples if they knew what He had done for them. He told them that they should follow His example and love and serve one another.

Main Point: Jesus was a servant leader.

Jesus wanted to give His closest disciples an example of how they should humbly serve one another. he knew that He would soon be gone, and He wanted them to be prepared to humbly serve and love others.

help me to love and serve others like You did. You were the ultimate example for how we should love one another. Help me to serve others like You did.
