All relationships will be difficult at times, but they should never, ever be destructive to our well-being. One of the ways to protect yourself from destructive, toxic relationships is to manage expectations. Others' expectations of you and your expectations of yourself.

Saying “yes” when we mean “no” is a recipe to be overwhelmed, exhausted, and resentful. Saying “no” when we mean “no” is a key step in living within healthy boundaries.
