SERIES OVERVIEW:
For the season of Lent, we will be reading through the book of Matthew, focusing on Jesus as the fulfillment of the long-awaited Messiah by the people of Israel. This should help tie both the New Testament and the Old Testament together as we see the book of Matthew constantly fulfilling passages from the Old Testament that longed for a Messiah, as the answer to their problems. We will also focus on the concept of the Kingdom of God as being both present now here on Earth with the beginning of Jesus' ministry, and in the future with the return of Christ to Earth.

SERMON OVERVIEW:
The long-awaited Messiah had been prophesied for many centuries. The Jewish people anticipated his arrival with great expectation. For many years, the people maintained their religion by faithfully following the traditions and celebrating the festivals. But religion wasn’t the reason the multitudes flocked to Jerusalem that first Palm Sunday. They flocked to see Jesus. To see something more than what their religion was offering.
