Luke 9:23 – “And he (Jesus) said to all, ‘If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.’”

Luke 9:23 – “And he (Jesus) said to all, ‘If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.’”
I. YOU MUST DIE VOLUNTARILY
v.23a – “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself…”
“Deny,” Gk. ἀρνέομαι (arneomai), “to renounce, disclaim, or decline”
“A rejection of a life based on self-interest and self-fulfillment.”
Active Voice: Subject does the action of the verb.
Passive Voice: Subject is being acted upon by the verb.
Middle Voice: Subject is doing the action of the verb, but with special interest to itself.
v.23a – “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself…”
