Obadiah
7,000 believers in Israel

Loneliness is a tool of the enemy

You are not alone.
Elijah is a loner
Elisha is a people person

Elisha:
Kiss his parents goodbye
Has a feast with the people
Devoted to stay with Elijah
Preserves Relationship with Prophets

Elijah:
Always Alone

The number three is significant in the bible.
Completeness
Pay attention to this theme

“As surely as the Lord lives and as you live, I will not leave you.”

3 Big takeaways:

1 - Relationships are important to God.
2 - God uses relationships to do big things in the world
3 - Relationships require time & commitment

Relationships are Important to God.
Lone wolfing is not an option.

The phrase "one another '' occurs about 100 times in the New Testament

Relationships matter to God.

God Uses Relationships to do Big Things for the World

God called Elijah to destroy Baal Worship...
So Jehu destroyed Baal worship in Israel. -1 Kings 10:28

Mission accomplished…

Who is Jehu?

God > Elijah > Elisha > Young Prophet > Jehu > Four Generations of Blessing

We have a personal responsibility in the restoration of the world. No matter what our occupation or background.

If the LORD commands us to be generous, and serve others, and be unified, we must understand that there is a much bigger purpose in doing those little things.

We don’t know what huge things God has in store for the world by honoring the people He places in our lives.

1 - Relationships are important to God.
2 - God uses relationships to do big things in the world

You are part of something much bigger than yourself.

Relationships require time & commitment

It’s estimated that Baal worship by Israelites began around 1350 BC, but Jehu didn't put an end to it until around 840 BC…

2 Pet 3:9
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

A small 10 X 20 ft garden would need 200 gallons of water per week in order to stay healthy.
One inch per square foot.
10,000 Gallons per year.

Ecc 4:9-10 Says
Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.

Who is your enemy right now?
Who hates you right now?
Who curses you right now?
Who mistreats you right now?

How should we respond?

Luke 6:28
Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.

Proverbs 13:20
Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.

And how did these transformations take place?

Time Together
Working on a shared vision and mission

Double Portion.

“Let me be the heir to your spirit and ministry.”

Elijah replies, “If you see me when I’m taken from you, it will be so.”

In other words, “Stay with me to the end son.”

Colossians 3:23-24
(Addressing believers in Christ)
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.”

Your life matters.

Elijah’s After Credit Scenes:
Several years later King Jahoram receives a letter from Elijah.
800 years later on Jesus’s last day Elijah appears and speaks with Jesus and Moses.

We will all have a “Last day on earth” …

1 - Relationships are important to God.
2 - God uses relationships to do big things in the world
3 - Relationships require time & commitment

What if today was your last day?

How would you spend it?

If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. - Romans 10:9
