Worship Gathering - The Cross #2
Focus this Sunday:
This Sunday, we continue in a sermon series in preparation for Holy Week. A visit to a church supplies store or website presents us with a choice of crosses: with or without the body of Christ. For Jesus, there was no choice. His cross was by necessity, with his own body. Jesus’s body was the means of our salvation. This series will help us understand the significance of the crucifixion and specifically His wounds. What was accomplished through Christ’s death? What does God have to say to you in this?
We will also be taking Communion. If you are participating online, please have your elements ready near the end of the service.
Join us Sunday at 10:30am either onsite or online! The link to the online service is on our website at (www.emmettnaz.org) and click on the Link to the Service.
Reflection Questions: (Privately or invite a few friends to discuss!)
1. What is one thing that stood out to you from this week’s message?
2. When have you seen someone suffer or sacrifice for the sake of love?
3. What happens in your heart when you think about the sacrifice Christ made on the cross? What feelings do you experience? What thoughts come to mind?
4. What does it mean to your life that Jesus conquered death? How does that knowledge change you?
5. How would you describe to a nonbelieving friend that Jesus’s crucifixion by the Roman Empire is actually a victory for God? How could you use scars?
6. How has your faith in Jesus empowered you to conquer parts of your life that needed to be defeated? What is your testimony?
7. How can we encourage and pray for each other in this?
