In this parable, Jesus describes lost people as a lost coin. In each parable, He reinforces the idea that one soul, one life, literally every person matters to God. If they matter to God, they should matter to us.
Lost coins aren’t evil. They aren’t bad; they are lost. A coin represents an inanimate object that doesn’t have a will of its own; a coin is controlled by the choices and decisions of others.
Our world is filled with lost people/(coins) who were abused, wounded, rejected, and manipulated; like a lost coin they were mishandled by people. Jesus cares for the broken and hurting, and He commands us to pray.
We pursue lost people through prayer; prayer is our weapon of warfare that brings healing, breakthrough, and deliverance.
Lost coins feel vulnerable; therefore, they are resistant, easily offended, and withdrawn. When we labor in prayer, prayer breaks the tormenting spirits off their minds. Prayer opens their hearts and allows them to receive God’s love.
