HYMN
"Rejoice, Ye Pure in Heart" #160

1. Rejoice, ye pure in heart;
rejoice, give thanks, and sing;
your glorious banner wave on high,
the cross of Christ your King.

Refrain:
Rejoice, rejoice,
rejoice, give thanks and sing.

2. Your clear hosannas raise,
and alleluias loud;
whilst answering echoes upward float,
like wreaths of incense cloud.
(Refrain)

3. Yes, on through life's long path,
still chanting as ye go;
from youth to age, by night and day,
in gladness and in woe.
(Refrain)

4. At last the march shall end;
the wearied ones shall rest;
the pilgrims find their heavenly home,
Jerusalem the blest.
(Refrain)

5. Praise God who reigns on high,
the Lord whom we adore,
the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,
one God forevermore.
(Refrain)
UNISON PRAYER

God, open our hearts and minds to receive Your word. Thank You for Your faithful servants who have handed down to us sound instruction and a trustworthy witness to Your Son Jesus Christ. As the scriptures are read and Your word proclaimed, grow within our hearts a love for Your Son and a willingness to follow Him. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit and give us confidence in what You teach us today.

We seek Your Holy Presence. Pour out Your Holy Spirit on this gathering and receive our offering of praise, worship, and thanksgiving for all You have done for us through Jesus Christ. In His Holy name we pray. Amen.
HYMN (8:30)
"Jesus is All the World to Me" #469

1. Jesus is all the world to me,
my life, my joy, my all;
he is my strength from day to day,
without him I would fall.
When I am sad, to him I go,
no other one can cheer me so;
when I am sad, he makes me glad,
he's my friend.

2. Jesus is all the world to me,
my friend in trials sore;
I go to him for blessings, and
he gives them o'er and o'er.
He sends the sunshine and the rain,
he sends the harvest's golden grain;
sunshine and rain, harvest of grain,
he's my friend.

3. Jesus is all the world to me,
and true to him I'll be;
O how could I this friend deny,
when he's so true to me?
Following him I know I'm right,
he watches o'er me day and night;
following him by day and night,
he's my friend.

4. Jesus is all the world to me,
I want no better friend;
I trust him now, I'll trust him when
life's fleeting days shall end.
Beautiful life with such a friend,
beautiful life that has no end;
eternal life, eternal joy,
he's my friend.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

Breakthrough Prayer:
Life-sustaining God, with us through all our trials and temptations, bear us up through this season of self-examination, that we might feed on the bread of Your Word and open ourselves to Your presence without demanding proof and signs. Help us let go of all the idols that surround us to worship and serve You with joy and delight, in uprightness of heart, through the grace of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

RESPONSE
"There is a Balm in Gilead" #375

Refrain:
There is a balm in Gilead
to make the wounded whole;
there is a balm in Gilead
to heal the sin-sick soul.

1 Some times I feel discouraged,
and think my work’s in vain.
But then the Holy Spirit
revives my soul again.
(Refrain)

2 Don't ever feel discouraged,
for Jesus is your friend,
and if you look for knowledge
he'll ne'er refuse to lend.
(Refrain)

3 If you can’t preach like Peter,
if you can’t pray like Paul,
just tell the love of Jesus,
and say he died for all.
(Refrain)
