http://lrpc.podbean.comJoin us for a 40 Day Prayer Challenge
Invitation: Let's Join Angie at Rise FM for a 40 Day Challenge Feb 22 is Ash Wednesday and it's the first day of the Lent period. This is a 40 day time frame as we approach Easter. 40 Days, in the Bible, is a significant number and always were lifechanging. Maybe it can be for you and I as well? I would like to invite you to do a 40 day Prayer challenge with me. We would have a private Facebook group discussion page where were will discuss the book "Draw the Circle" by Mark Batterson. If you would like to participate, please sign up by emailing me at angie@risefmohio.com You will also want to grab a copy of the book https://rb.gy/cfjt3n . There is a study guide too, that adds to the study, and I got the digital copy through Hoopla at the local library. We will also have a LIVE Zoom meeting for one hour once each week. I will post those recordings to our Group Page as well, in case you can't participate LIVE. Sound good? Sign up via email angie@risefmohio.com

Primary difference: more to do with effort than ability.
American children avg, 9.47 minutes.
Japanese children avg. 13.93 minutes
…tried 47 % longer.
Success is a derivative of persistence.
People need to spend 10,000 hours on a specific skill before they can become masters of it. ~ K. Anders Ericsson/Berlin’s Academy of Music
Is prayer any different?
It is a…
-habit to be cultivated.
-discipline to be developed.
-skill to be practiced.
One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up. “There was a judge in a certain city,” he said, “who neither feared God nor cared about people. A widow of that city came to him repeatedly, saying, ‘Give me justice in this dispute with my enemy.’ The judge ignored her for a while, but finally he said to himself, ‘I don’t fear God or care about people, but this woman is driving me crazy. I’m going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!’” Luke 18:1–5
Praying hard is more than words.
It’s blood, sweat, and tears.
Praying hard is two-dimensional:
praying like it depends on God
and working like it depends on you.
Does The Judge know that about you?
The common denominator in each of these stories is holy desperation.
And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. Romans 8:26
And soon the sky was black with clouds. A heavy wind brought a terrific rainstorm, and Ahab left quickly for Jezreel. Then the lord gave special strength to Elijah. He tucked his cloak into his belt and ran ahead of Ahab’s chariot all the way to the entrance of Jezreel.I Kings 18:45-46
God said it - I believe it - and that settles it.
better…
God said it - I’ve circled it - and that settles it.
No matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory. 2 Corinthians 1:20
I promise you what I promised Moses: ‘Wherever you set foot, you will be on land I have given you—from the Negev wilderness in the south to the Lebanon mountains in the north, from the Euphrates River in the east to the Mediterranean Sea in the west, including all the land of the Hittites.’ No one will be able to stand against you as long as you live. For I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will not fail you or abandon you. Joshua 1:3-5
The question is: How many of them have you circled?
The Bible is a promise book and a prayer book.
Reading is reactive - Prayer is proactive
Reading is the way you get through the Bible.
Prayer is the way you get the Bible through you.
