In this parable Jesus describes lost people as lost sheep. In each parable he reinforces the idea that one soul, one life, literally every person matters to God and if they matter to God they should matter to us.
Lost sheep aren’t evil sheep, they aren’t rebellious sheep, they are lost sheep. They have wandered off the path and have gotten turned around.
Our world is filled with people who are confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Jesus has compassion for lost sheep and he commands us to pray.
We pursue the lost through prayer; prayer is our weapon of warfare that brings people out of darkness into God’s glorious light.
Sheep are defenseless animals, they are easily confused and helpless against the enemy. When we labor in prayer, prayer removes the blinders of the enemy; brings the revelation, conviction and intervention of God into their lives.
