http://lrpc.podbean.comJoin us for a 40 Day Prayer Challenge
Invitation: Let's Join Angie at Rise FM for a 40 Day Challenge Feb 22 is Ash Wednesday and it's the first day of the Lent period. This is a 40 day time frame as we approach Easter. 40 Days, in the Bible, is a significant number and always were lifechanging. Maybe it can be for you and I as well? I would like to invite you to do a 40 day Prayer challenge with me. We would have a private Facebook group discussion page where were will discuss the book "Draw the Circle" by Mark Batterson. If you would like to participate, please sign up by emailing me at angie@risefmohio.com You will also want to grab a copy of the book https://rb.gy/cfjt3n . There is a study guide too, that adds to the study, and I got the digital copy through Hoopla at the local library. We will also have a LIVE Zoom meeting for one hour once each week. I will post those recordings to our Group Page as well, in case you can't participate LIVE. Sound good? Sign up via email angie@risefmohio.com

Asbuy Outpouring 2023
"There’s going to be commissioned Services where we say…thank you for coming I'm so glad you experienced and encountered the Holy Spirit…Now go to your family- go to your school - go to you church - go to your community and tell them about it and pray for them and it's going to happen there too. So while it will fizzle at Asbury because it simply must at some point I think that it will be Global for a very very long time". ~ Alison Perfant /Asbury Student
Lent/lent/noun
1.the period preceding Easter that in the Christian Church is devoted to fasting, abstinence, and penitence in commemoration of Christ's fasting in the wilderness. In the Western Church it runs from Ash Wednesday to Holy Saturday and so includes forty weekdays
Think about Lent:
1)seeing people on Ash Wednesday with a smudge on their forehead
2)a season where you “give something up”
WHAT Lent is
WHY people observe it
HOW you incorporate it into your life.
THE HISTORY OF LENT
-WHY do people observe Lent?
Lent is a preparation for Easter.
2 Corinthians 12:8-10 (ESV):
Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
-Why do you think Lent is 40 days?
MATTHEW 4:1-2 (ESV)
Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And after fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.
-Does the Bible command us to observe Lent?
-WHAT Lent is… WHY people observe it.
