The ways we talk, think, and speak are incredibly powerful because they form how you see and experience the world.
Our speaking and relating to God forms how we see Him, experience Him, and connect with Him
The question really is how will Job respond and what is the right way to respond?
7 different responses to suffering are highlighted in Job:
1) we can bless
2) we can curse God
3) we can be passive
4) we can be silent
5) we can complain to God
6) we can defend God
7) we can accuse God

Pay attention to your response to this passage.
What is your gut reaction hearing some of those verses?
What is your inner reaction to this?
Are you shocked?
Are you surprised?
Do you find it a bit unholy or unnecessary?
Do you gravitate to those words?
Does it give you language for what you’re going through?
Did you know you can cry out like this in suffering?

Is this an appropriate way to talk to God?
Is this a holy way to speak to God?
Is it okay for us to curse like sailors trying to rouse leviathan?

The friends defend God and justify the suffering. (Job 8:2, 11:2-3, 15:2-6).
“All accept some version of a causal relationship between sin and suffering; all affirm that God is always in the right (no matter what happens;) and all have the view of the human person as relatively insignificant in God’s sight”
Richard Middleton
