“We are seeing a lot of people walk away from their faith right now. But I have a suspicion there’s far more going on than meets the eye. This deconstruction and doubt could actually be a sign of emerging life. I think of it like this: my wife and I grow our own tomatoes. They’re good. Proof-of-God good. When we have people over to our house, sometimes they won’t eat the big, ripe, juicy heirlooms we picked 20 minutes earlier. They say they don’t like tomatoes. Then I force them to try our tomatoes, which don’t taste like the fake tomatoes you get from the grocery store. What I’ve learned is this: people don’t hate tomatoes. People hate fake tomatoes. Truth is, maybe the “Christianity” so many in our culture today are rejecting isn’t Christianity. Often they are rejecting false Christianity. They simply haven’t tasted the real Jesus yet. Or they have tasted Jesus, and rigid religion has proven to be a poor substitute.” - A.J. Swoboda
